Welcome to LanCraft

LanCraft is an official fan site and community for Blizzard’s epic game – World of Warcraft.

With servers holding a reported 10 million subscribers world wide, huge 40 man raid instances taking place, a very intuitive character creation and development system and fun player versus player battles, there is no wonder why World of Warcraft is by far the most popular MMORPG today.

We are currently assessing the feasibility of running a WoW dedicated LAN gaming centre. If you’d like to offer us your opinions on this, please spare 2 minutes and complete the LanCraft Survey

We hope that you have as much fun playing World of Warcraft as we do and enjoy your stay at LanCraft.

Blizzard Europe  have recently sat down with World of Warcraft lead producer J. Allen Brack and art director Chris Robinson to discuss some of the ideas that influenced the development of Fury of the Sunwell, the most recent content update for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

While they were at it, they also picked their brains about the lessons learned from The Burning Crusade and how they’re influencing the design approach for Wrath of the Lich King.

This guide is designed to help players with castable crowd control (Mages / Priest etc).  It makes use of the focus system which for those that don't know is a hidden target you can set which can have spells / abilities cast upon it without the need to keep selecting it first.

It can be used in both PvE and PVP.

The makers of World of Warcraft are locked in a legal battle with a firm that has produced a tool to automate many actions in the virtual world.

Blizzard is suing Michael Donnelly, the creator of the MMO Glider program, which performs key tasks in the game automatically, such as fighting. Both sides have submitted legal summaries to a court in Arizona.

Blizzard says Glide is a software bot which infringes the company's copyright and potentially damages the game.

Patch 2.4 Confirmed

Tuesday, 25 March 2008

Once again the official European website has got the better of the US one - this time being first to confirm speculation that patch 2.4 is indeed going live this week (today for the US, tomorrow morning for EU servers).

From the EU Realm Status page:

Weekly Maintenance - 26/03

This Wednesday there will be an extended maintenance to apply patch 2.4.0. Please note that all European realms will be offline from 03:00 until 11:00, Paris time (CET).

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

So the good news is, all the lovely new patch 2.4 goodies will be available and live by the time you are able to log into the European servers tomorrow.

The bad news is, with the UI changes included in the patch - it's highly likely all your nice UI mods are going to be broken/in need of an upgrade.

To our readers in the US - happy patch day!
To members in the EU - prepare yourselves, for tomorrow it begins!

Patch 2.4 Next Week?

World of Warcraft News

It looks like patch 2.4 could well be coming next week (Tuesday 25th March for the US, Wednesday 26th in EU) - at least, according to this screenshot a US Game Master responding to an in-game ticket.

Fingers crossed that this is real - if so, we could be enjoying all the new patch 2.4 goodness!

EDIT: Unfortunately the screenshot has been removed due to "high bandwidth usage" - I smell a Blizzard conspiracy!

The image was a collection of partical screenshots showing an in-game ticket submitted by a US player (asking whether the patch would be going live this week), and the resulting conversation when a GM contacted them - in which the GM stated that while the patch would not be going live now... it's likely (the GM gave percentage odds of 90/10) that it will be put live next week (Tues 25th in US, Wed 26th for EU).

Add to that the fact that this week saw a normal "extended maintenance" - often a sign that an expected patch is going live the following week, and signs are the countdown to 2.4 is almost over.Discuss Topic (0) Comments
