Title: New Patch - Inscriptions
Post by: Zyn on August 26, 2008, 08:55:19 AM
This should make Steele (Daal) happy . . .

With the release of Wrath of the Lich King approaching, we wanted to provide you with some important information. In preparation for the expansion, we will be issuing a new content patch in the coming weeks. Much like the patch made available shortly before The Burning Crusade's release, this content patch is designed to bridge current game content with that of the expansion and will contain some exciting changes and additions.

We have outlined some of the larger features scheduled to release with the patch below:

New class spells and talents
Stormwind Harbor
Barbershops in capital cities
Zeppelin towers outside of Orgrimmar and Tirisfal Glades
Two brand-new Arenas featuring challenging new layouts, terrain hazards, and moving obstacles
Guild calendar
Hunter pet skill revamp
New profession: Inscription

As mentioned above, this is not a comprehensive list, just some of the major highlights. We’ll post the full patch notes as soon as they’re available. Regarding Inscription, please note that all Burning Crusade players will be able to select Inscription as one of their two professions and level up to a skill level of 375 with it. Upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King, players who purchase and install the expansion will be able to continue leveling in Inscription and the other professions beyond 375.

Nice find mate... Although I'm a little unsure why Steele in particular will be happy... Is it because he's going to do inscription? :)

I'd be much happier if they'd drop the xp needed between 60-70 hehe

Yes Daal - just remember you mentioned Steele will be doing Inscriptions - and now he will not have to wait for WotLK.

As I understand it, Inscriptions are similar to enchants but are applied to spells and abilities as opposed to armour and weapons.  It also seems that enchanters will be able to apply enchants to Inscriptions which will mean they can be sold on the AH.  This also means that enchanters will be able to enchant their own Alts!

There are lots of things Inscription brings to the table, Wowhead have got some of them here:

http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spells=11.773

One of the most interesting angles to me is Decipher (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=52175)

I beleive it will work like AD&D scrolls used to which is when you find something new, instead of actually using it, you can learn it!

I suspect that may be concrete too (or as close as Blizz get to concrete).

In terms of the content patch, rumour is during Sep (my guess is on the release day of WAR which is the 18th).

I am not certain but yes, I believe that is the way it will work.

Aye.  The guy with inscription can create parchments.  These can then be passed to an enchanter and the enchant put on the parchment.  This item becomes BOE so can then be mailed / sold etc.

About time I say!

So do you need another profession to do inscription or is it like tailoring or enchanting, only 1 needed to do it,  otherwise it seems to me it would be nice to have 1 char with inscription and enchanting.

The gathering profession associated with inscription is herbalism, many of the inscription receipies need herbs to create the inks.
