Title: No hardware changes needed for WOLK Post by: Corvus on September 04, 2008, 10:25:16 AM Just a heads up that you wont need any new hardware if your current configuration works with the Burning Crusade.
The beta looks amazing - I think they have just re-texturised alot of the scenery so it look more detailed, but it runs fine on my setup. Hope this helps anyone thinking they might have needed an update. My machine is a AMD-2.2GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI-800GT 128mb and is donkeys old (however old they are!) On minimal settings, WoW will pretty much play on anything as long as you have 1GB ram. However, if you want to see the new shadows in their full glory you're going to need some serious kit. I'm sure they will get refined as they get closer to release but I generally get 60fps solid most places, when I enabled the shadows I got 12fps. Not sure what the console command is to enable them off hand, but look it up. They truly look amazing... particularly riding through somewhere like ashenvale where every tree casts its own live shadow. |
