Title: Level 50 Raids?
Post by: Thovaak_Shaman on September 08, 2008, 07:38:08 AM
HI...

I just dinged 50 yesterday (51 now) and was wonderin if there any raids available to level 50+ players. One of my mates said there was and i also thought that, pre-BC, when the level cap was 50 there must have been raids avaiable then?

Also with rauds arethey like a quest you pick up with an objective?
Are they an instanbce you enter?
Or do you just decide to go off and hunt down one of the enemy pvp bosses?

Am really not clued up at all bout raids so any info would be very useful....thnx

nope the pre BC cap was level 60 i'm afraid I'm pretty sure the only raids are at 60. some good instances are opened up at 50 tho you should check them out

A raid is the term usually used for an instance requiring more than 5 people.  Pre-TBC there were 25-man and even 40-man raids such as Zul'Gurub, Onyxia, AQ and Molten Core.  I think UBRS was also a 10-man raid.  It is still possible to do these though very few do these days.

TBC has 10-man raids such as Kara and Zul'Aman, then 25-man raids:

Tier 4 - Magtheridon, Gruul's Lair
Tier 5 - Serpent Shrine Cavern, The Eye (TK)
Tier 6 - Mount Hyjal, Black Temple, Sunwell Plateau (new)

See this link for info on all instances and raids - http://www.wowwiki.com/Instances_by_continent (http://www.wowwiki.com/Instances_by_continent)

Thnx for the info..am still a little confused. When you enter some places there is an NPC with a name and (boss) in brackets. I was under the impression that in some raids you had to venture into the enemmies teritory and kill the 'Boss'......im probably totally wrong.

If this is not the case then what are these bosses for?
Do they drop loot?

Is there any point in going into enemy bases and killing NPC's flagged as PvP?

Well thats the faction/pvp-bosses, and yes indeed ppl from alliance can for example kill horde bosses, however the only thing you get from it is honor, no rep, xp or anything.
This was a part from the old pre-tbc honor system, at that time you could gain lots of honor by killing them, however I guess they've made it more or less useless to kill them nowdays
