Title: A Long Journey
Post by: Daal on September 26, 2007, 11:25:28 PM
This is an example of how to form an RP story/event with someone else.  I met Wu during this post during a guild application before deciding to get the LanCraft guilds going, I'm sure you'll enjoy it and perhaps it will give you some insight how to make an interactive RP story for yourself on here :)

As Daal sat by the fire in the Guilded Rose thoughtfully sipping his brew, he started to remember his dislike for civilisation. As was common with a number of hunters, Daal felt no more at home than when surrounded by nature. The journey to Stormwind had been a long one. The weather, uncharacteristically cold for this time of year.

His initial meeting with the Academy principal appeared to go well, although Daal had always struggled to read the Humans. Such an unpredictable race.

He had booked himself in with Allison for a few nights who had refused to take payment yet again. “Funny how reputations are only as good as your last quest” the weary Elf thought to himself. Daal took another sip.

Over the next few days, whilst waiting to hear from the Academy regarding his application, Daal planned to catch up with a few old friends that now rarely left the confines of Stormwind. Steele was back from SI7 duties and they had a lot to catch up about.

Daal had heard rumours that his brother Xaal had been sighted passing through Stormwind, no doubt on his way back to Shattrah. Daal had struggled to understand why the Priest had chosen to ally with the Blood Elves there but over the years had learned to accept his little brother’s choices. He was at least still with Xakita the last time they met, at least she helped to curb his thirst for power, at least for now.

As Twilight set through the Inn windows, the door to the Inn opened slowly and a cloaked figure stepped into the hallway.

((So who wants to be the cloaked figure?) )

((you rolled dice and got me!))

Almond eyes peered beneath pearlescent hood as the young female entered the Inn. Fingers of left hand clutched a thick ledger whilst right hand twirled a strange ornament that looked almost akin to fool's gold.

Approaching the barmaid, Wu inhaled deep and looked resolute as she helped yet another young soul this eve. Sure it had cost thirty gold, but, love had no price!

"I have found it! The answer to your prayers sweet friend! Now I purchased this from a very reputable troll in Shatraath, and it is said to find your heart's desire and even make them irresistible to your charms!"

Needless to say the young maid with mouth agape cradled said knecklace as if it were a newborn babe. Nodding rapidly as she fastened it upon her own neck, Wu smiled and waved away any payment. Love was the ultimate reward afterall.

"Nothing at all! Just remember whom to ask for a wedding dress!"

Exaling softly through her nose Wu placed her ledger in her travelling bag . Next she did lift herself up into the nearest seat available and swung her legs over the edge whilst pursing lips as almond eyes roamed the expanse of the inn.

A male at the fireplace caught her eye. Deep in his own thoughts undoubtedly. Eyes turned milky for a time as she beheld his souldance. Not entirely dark, not entirely light, just the right balance. Eyes regained their normal sheen and Wu regarded him with a tilt of the head. This time of night...Alone...Her lips parted.

"Oh but he be lonely and unloved!Or..maybe ..a broken heart?Or..maybe he loves one he cannot have!"

She thought in earnest. Wiping a tear with a shred of shadowweave cloth she sighed and tapped her fingers together as if waiting for a right moment. Looking to the fireplace she bit her lip and with a flick of her wrist and a murmur of choice words, the flames roared to greater life as a bolt of flame was released. With this she half grinned , half blushed.

"You looked cold!"

Daal had made it his business not to get involved in other peoples business a long time ago. He watched for a second as the petite figure almost skipped across the main room of the Inn towards the barmaid and somehow, for once, Daal felt the weight of his heart start to lift.

The feeling didn’t last long and his thoughts drifted off to his brother once more as the figure hopped onto a chair at the bar.

Solomon, Daal’s fine white lion yawned and then put his chin back down on the stone floor. Daal gently patted the beast who was one of the few creatures that Allison allowed inside the Inn. Solomon, still very young had been with Daal since that hateful day when they fought side by side in Winterspring. The Lion had travelled Outlands from edge to edge and had almost perished to the hands of the Horde on more than one occasion yet there he was, looking untouched by anguish. The mutual respect the beast and the master had for each other was very uncommon each knowing that every night may be their last together.

As the flames in the fireplace exploded the cat bolted upright, ready to fight the oncoming undead mage. Daal very quickly assessing the threat put his uncovered hand on the Lions chest. “Easy young one…” he said in Elvish.

Daal looked over to the bar where the helpful figure sat beaming from under her hood.

Wu pressed her fingers to her rose petalled lips as the elven male spoke. Was he speaking to her or the poor kitty who jumped? She had not meant to do that. Departing her mouth, fingers sought the enchanted fabric of her hood and grasped it, lowering it to her shoulders. What was revealed were two ever so clean pink bunches of hair.

"I sorry sir! I don't speak your lovely tongue. That is your language. Not that it isn't a nice language. I 'd like to learn it! Not meaning that I think any one has the right to learn it but, I'd like to. But not to say it is an easy language for a Gnome t olearn! But..a pretty one. Oh! And that is if you were addressing me and not your kitty. I mean lion! Erm companion?"

At that moment Wu jumped with suprise as Allison placed a cup of sweet nectar in front of Wu. Her small nostrils twitched as it smelt so good and grasping the cup with both hands she drunk greedily, her head nodding to Allison in gratitude as almond eyes shone happily.

Daal cast an amused glance towards Allison who winked subtly back at the Elf. “Unpredictable” Daal thought to himself.

He then smiled at the gnome who was clearly in a bit of a muddle. Daal stood up from his place at the fire, collected his tankard and after whispering something to Sol, walked over to the bar. Although Daal generally preferred his own company to that of others, there was something intriguing about this Gnome.

Sol simply laid back down folding his front legs under his chin and closed his eyes, the flickering firelight dancing over his sleek white shape.

“Greetings little one” Daal said in common, as he approached the Gnome who was trying with all the intent of the world to squeeze the last drop of drink out of her mug.

“I am Daal Ravenglade, ranger of the West, and my friend over there is Solomon…. Who might you be?” Daal said warmly.

Almond eyes flowed from contents of cup, which had now diminished, to the handsome features of the male elf. The male elf who was approaching her table. The male Elf with the awfully long legs and shinies on his person that caught her eye.

Rose petaled lips formed an 'o' shape as the cup made a sucking sound as it was taken from her mouth and set on the table. Composing herself, Wu grinned and swung her legs once more. Better still, he could speak common. So nicely too, a gentle voice yet thick with masculinity.

"Ooh that sounds good, shall have to tell the girls about him! I wonder if Dusieb would suit. They could sleep together, literally. That druid was always in the emerald dream and yet even as a tree she has great hugs. That has to count for something!" She thought to herself.

Blinking back thoughts Wu bowed her head and thought she rather liked his name.

"Greetings sir Daal Ravenglade, Ranger of the best."

At this she pursed her lips, that was right ...Wasn't it? Yeah, sounded right.

" I am Wuwu Wisely, Guardian of Starlight! Please call me Wu if it pleases you."

Almond eyes looked to the best ranger and then to the chair and she did motion with nodding and hand gestures for him to take a seat. After such enthusiastic gesturing on her part, fingers fumbled deep within her travelling pack and produced two ripe peaches. Her favourite Elven export.

Daal bowed forwards to greet Wu, fighting hard to keep a smile from his lips due to the Gnomes words. He had always felt a connection with the Gnomes, Steele, his right hand man had proven himself quite the companion during their journeys. His wit only matched by his blades.

For the first time since being in the Inn that evening, Daal noticed a figure sat in the window, shrouded in darkness. As Daal moved to the bar and cast a glance in the direction of the shady character, he’d felt uneasy about it’s reaction of sitting further back in the shadows. Something wasn’t right.

Daal sat down beside Wu and ordered a water. “Nice to meet you Wu, can I get you another drink?” Daal said extending a hand of friendship.

Almond eyes positively glowed at Daal's approach and further enchanted speech. What a blessing this night was becoming. She did not notice any other person whom may have been within the tavern save for the three of them, counting Allison. Not that Wu would normally miss such things, but she was a curious Gnome and once her attention was caught so raptly it would take fire and a possible Boom from one of Omni's bombs to make her blink.

"Oh! Well only to keep you ocmpany, yes, some sweet nectar would be most welcome thankyou sir Daal."

Nimble fingers then rolled a peach out toward him as she picked the other up and chewed thoughtfully. Well now. A single elf in Stormwind. A single male elf. So much work, so few singles...that matched. She did wonder if this one liked females, males or both. But how does one approach such a subject? With tact! Upmost diplomacy! Yes Wu was an expert in such fields.

"So Daal...Do you prefer drinking from the font or eating berries from the bush?"

Almond eyes regarding him quite seriously as love was a very serious matter.

Daal picked up the peach and whilst inspecting it said “I prefer my riddles to lead to loot…. but when I do eventually decide to settle down and give myself to another… it shall be from the font. I’m afraid that I do not have the time or the inclination to pursue such matters for now little one”

He nodded to the barkeep and ordered Wu a Nectar.

Daal smiled and as he thought back, wondering how or why he would even answer such a personal question his concerns slipped away into the night air as he bit into the peach.

The figure in the corner was definitely paying a little too much attention to the conversation. The Tavern was starting to fill and yet the figure’s attention was fixed solely on Wu.

Sensing danger, Daal made a low whispering noise and immediately Sol vanished from sight. Daal decided not to alert Wu just yet.

Almond eyes widened as she heard Daal's reply. Almost choking on mouthfuls of peach she concentrated on swallowing and then gasped for air.

"Oh!Oooh yes ofcourse Daal sir. I understand and I am honoured you answered my very personal question. Which I asked due to my quest in life which is to unite every lonely soul with their life mate!"

Smiling gratefully as her nectar arrived she spoke a word of thanks softly and then washed down the peach, sticky fingers clinging to the goblet.

"So, he likes males. Well that was nice. More difficult to find a partner for but not impossible! Typically most cute ones are...What was the term? Joy? Yes he as a joyelf, awww my first joyelf! I wonder if there is anyone for him in here? Maybe that's why he is here? Oh wow tis a joy joy tavern and I never knew!" She thought to herself. Well she was not called Wu Wisely for nothing.

"Hmm, that one with the cloak looks very interested in us! Oh my, maybe they think I am trying to chat him up? No wonder they look meanie!" She thought again.

Almond eyes turned milky as Wu absorbed shadow sight, an inheritant ability since her early apprentice days. Yes they truly were quite angry, the colours of their soul depicted a powerful one. Fingers itched yet this one was not necessarily an enemy. All was fair in love and war. Almond eyes regained their hazel hue and Wu whispered to her newfound friend.

"Think that hooded person is jealous that I have such a goodlooking friend to talk to Daal sir. Should we tell them you are single but not looking in case they missed it?"

Wu smiled sheepishly as she placed the half full goblet down and wiped her sticky hands on a piece of netherweave cloth.

Realising that the cloaked figure was definitely male, Daal wasn’t sure where to place his attention first. Should he take the time to explain that he had clearly misunderstood the font question, or ensure that the imminent threat was dispatched quickly.

He saw Sol crouched only feet away from the figure, ready to pounce upon the slightest word from his master and then something struck Daal. He recognised the figure and was angry at himself for not noticing the aura before.

The figure appeared to read Daal’s thoughts and stepped out of the shadow patting Sol as he strode past the cat.

“Good evening Brother” the taller Night Elf said “…and who might this be” nodding at the Gnome.

Almond eyes alit with interest and joy as the cloaked figure now appeared to be more than previously thought. A brother! She did wonder if he was single also. Short legs swung back and forth as her body itched to bound over and huggle the man. She would speak first in her spirited voice and see what would happen next.

"Oh sir! I am Wuwu Wisely, Guardian of Starlight, please call me Wu! A friend of Daal's is a friend of mine!"

She did grin and wiggle her fingertips itching to get a closer look and some physical contact. She even whined a little with a smile and decided a peach would do the trick! Rummaging through pack out popped another Moonglade produce and rolled it did across table toward the mysterious brother.

Daal for the first time in many a moon found himself speechless.  He hadn’t seen his Brother for at least 12 seasons.

Xaal clearly taking delight in his older brother’s temporary state of stasis turned his attention to the Gnome and only just managed to catch the fruit she rolled to him before it hit the tavern floor.

“Greetings little one” Xaal stated with a self important tone.  “I am Xaal Ravenglade, Brother of Daal”

Daal began to speak and then stopped.  Something was very different about Xaal, then it hit him…. The shadow had cleared.  Xaal clearly had the mark of Elune herself about him now.

Daal, finally managing to free himself from his thoughts, stood up and embraced his brother.  He only faltered for a second, trying to imagine what Wu must be thinking, but then proceeded to hold his Brother close, close enough so that the priest wouldn’t see a tear cascade down the ragged hunters face, the first since their parents had died.

Almond eyes sparkled with delight and warmth, oh there were cuddles to be had indeed! Yet it would not be proper for her to share in their private moment, afterall, Xaal had declared them brothers. How handsome they both were! Oh it was truly a fortunate eve that brought her to the tavern. Now she had two noble elves and if she dare say powerful ones at that to call her friends and maybe, just maybe find them true love too!

"Oh, it is indeed an honour to meet you Xaal, brother of Daal. Very nice names I must admit and I just feel all sniff, happy and emotional at how close you both are."

Wu dabbed at her eyes with a netherweave  hankerchief and sighed softly before sipping her nectar so graciously bought by Daal moments ago.

Daal took a step back, clearly composing himself.  He studied Xaal closely and before he could ask, Xaal interrupted.

“You see the mark I presume brother?”  Xaal said wryly.  “Don’t worry yourself, my quest still remains the same.  You see merely what I want you to see…”.

Xaal muttered in Elvish and immediately the aura changed and his mark of Elune descended into darkness.

“You see… the great ones not only control their own thoughts but those of others.  I find it easier when visiting the human cities to conform to a god they are comfortable with.”

A feeling of grief washed over Daal, never had his brother extended his deception and power to him. Daal, the pain clear on his face tried to speak but was cut off by Wu.

Elves were such serious beings. But oh how Wu loved them! Almond eyes regarded them both and how tall and proud they both seemed. She did not understand about Gods and the light very much, never had but when she was in trouble either her friends or her power helped her out. She often thanked the Nether, that being the nexus point of her power where her minions were sucked from, more or less. Purple shiny place, yes that was it.

Xaal Ravenglade was looking rather purple and shiny indeed, much nicer than the bright glow which always made her blink once or twice. Looking to Daal she noticed he looked thoughtful somehow. OH! Silly Wu!

"Well sir Xaal! Here you are with both family and friends, no need for any disguise, I so prefer the purple aura! Tis almost, almost nicer than pink!"

There! Now Daal need not worry, for if Wu was comfortable with the colours surely he should be? Afterall, even though Wu was a Warlock she remained true to herself. Suddenly her face grew sombre.

"Oh dear...tsk..this will not do.."

Blinking she tipped her empty cup upside down and let out a dramatic sigh.

"Another round please Allison!"

Daal stood there motionless as if time had stood still.  He could hear Wu chattering but his gaze and attention were fixated on his Brother.

His attention was finally broken as Alison clanked three tankards onto the counter.

Alison had had a good day. Customers were plentiful, and all her permanent residents had payed their rent. She strongly hoped that the mage had presented her with real money,  and not just summoned up an illusion of gold, but she trusted him. He was a good fellow, and would not do something of that sort. As she sat there, in front of her customers, she slowly settled into a pleasant, sleepy trance. Thoughts of her husband brought a dreamy smile to her lips. He had been away trading this week, and would be very aroused when he reached her bed. She waited for the moment eagerly.

Suddenly an exlamation from the small gnome jerked her out of her trance. "A nectar, please". She slowly got up and poured the gnome some nectar. Woo or Waa or whatever her name was, she was quite good looking. Still in her early adulthood, this gnome was a great specimen of her race, and raised Alisons standards of gnomish beauty. The young girls eyes were fixed upon an elf sitting on the opposite end of the bar. "An elf and a gnome? Hmm... They might make a good couple" said Alison to herself cheerfully. "I wonder what her next move will be" she thought.

As her attention drifted towards the elf, she noted his wide shoulders and handsome smile, and thought to herself "he is very good looking, but i bet that my husband is better in bed". She settled down into her chair and prepared to take another nap, hopefully without any interruptions. It seemed only a moment later when she was jerked out of her siesta again. She was already prepared to scowl the person who was disrespectful enough to interrupt her slumber, but then she noticed that it was the Elf, placing an order for another Nectar. She poured another glass, and the elf passed it on to the Gnome "Hmm, so they're flirting already? that didnt take much time.. Well, good luck Wee". Upon closer inspection she realised that the Elf was a resident of hers from time to time, and remembered that he had that giant Lion with him. "I should really give that pussy cat something to eat" she remarked, glaring in the direction of one of the maids. The frightened girl quickly took a big chunk of meat from the cellar and brought it to the Lion. He looked at it with disdain and sniffed. The girl left it on the floor and went away. "Well, so much for a steak tonight" she remarked sadly.

Now that she had already no chance of getting any more sleep, she was determined to follow the state of affairs between these two closely. While she had been distracted by the meat, a second elf had appeared, and was now busily engaged with a quiet conversation with the other elf. They resembled each other to some extent, and to Alison they looked like brothers. Evidently, they were so engrossed in discussing something that they had completely forgotten Waa. She was quite apalled at the state of affairs. "What sort of a man is this, forgetting about a girl?". She decided to take matters into her own hands. She retrieved three tankards of dwarven stout from the cupboard, and put them on the table with a satisfying clank. Her mission had been accomplished: soon the Elf and the Gnome were busily chatting, their tankards half empty, while the Elf-brother was sitting sulkily in his corner again, his tankard untouched.

(welcome to the story mate - have broken your long paragraph up a little to make it easier on the eyes - great work - Daal :))

Wu smiled gratefully at Alison as she promptly brought them another round.

"Thankyou Alison!Tis Wu, Waa was my great Aunt who had green hair and too many toes, she actually had ten!"

Wu screwed her nose up for a moment as she watches Solomon stretch. What a cute kitty! Oh how nice it must be to coddle up to that warm fur and just snooze! Wu stifled a small yawn and sucked greedily upon the goblet, enjoying the flow of sweet nectar down her parched throat. Afterall, it had been ages since her last sip!

Looking with almond eyes now to Xaal and then Daal, Wu wondered why he still looked so forlorn. Well three things made a smile in Wu's book. A cuddle, a song and good ol bouncing! Well a song it would be since..Bouncing..was highly irregular, though, fun if she were single and well yeah. Clearing her throat Wu began to sing something from the top of her head as was her want.

"Ohhh....Daal be Elven, Daal be pretty , Daal has shinies too!
Daal be hunting, Daal be grunting, Daal will run ye through!
Horde be asking, girls be crying, what are we to do?
For who does stand a chance...be it battle or romance..
When there be not one Ravenglade..but ..twooooooo.."

After letting the 'ooo' die down Wu sat back satisfied awaiting with hope for a smile.

Daal began to grin when the door slammed open, interrupting the conversation of the three at the bar. All looked to the huge human covered in golden armour with a huge hammer strapped to his back and his companion, a night elf woman wearing flowing green robes with the symbol of a hunting cat’s head emblazoned on her chest and each shoulder, she carried a great wooden staff as they walked over the thresh-hold, the man walking to a table in the corner and the woman came towards the bar.

The night-elf strolled up to the bar and called over Alison, ordering two large tankards of mead. As Alison went to find two clean tankards, the night elf noticed Daal and Xaal looking at her. She stared back. There was an uneasy silence as she saw the purple aura around Xaal and frowned. Alison returned at that moment with the two tankards and placed them on the bar. The night elf handed over a few coins and took the drinks to the man at the table. When the man glared around at all looking at him they hastily returned to their own conversations. The woman said something to the man and he glanced in Xaal’s direction, downed his tankard and leant back in his chair.
