In heroic, the mobs have 12k health instead of 4k. Evil Corley was healing himself at least 11k with a Greater Heal plus a renew ticking!
I do remember swearing when I did get him to kill range with his health and silenced him.... only to then see Evil Xakita drop a 6k flash of light on him.
*cries*

Guilds / Twilight Rising / Putting the Old Kingdom to Rest

As the group approached Volazj after trying several times to down Taldaram unsucessully an air of optimism mixed with that of tingling doubt filled the air. Had the group over estimated their ability?
Time and time again, Twilight Rising members have punched above their weight but had we overstretched?
The group cleared their way to the huge hulking figure with ease. The combination of Harps’ damage, Xak & Zent standing firm, Xaals ability to hit and heal at the same time and of course Corley’s solid group healing had us toe to toe with the beast in no time.
The encounter started well, the damage was pouring in and we were in good shape. As the first Insanity hit, Xaal barked out orders to take Evil Corley down first and then perhaps himself.
Insanity descended.
Within seconds it was clear the group was in trouble. As Xaal had anticipated, Evil Corley was living up to his alter ego’s reputation and keeping the party standing. It didn’t seem to matter how hard the group hit their own sadistic version of Corley, he just kept healing through it.
The last remaining ounce of life tried to leap from Xaals body as he exhaled deeply, admitting defeat. Then it went dark… really dark. As Xaal opened his eyes, he realised he was now stood in the shadow of a bear. Zent… and he was battering the evil avatars.
Insanity ended and they hit with everything we could muster. The group was clearly shaken by the difficulty. Corley recovered everyones health pool and the team pressed on.
The second Insanity was not without it’s casualties.
The first to go was Harps. A muffled mix of growls and words I’m too polite to scribe signalled his demise. Xaal dug deep, he knew they still had the team firepower to get the job done if he could just hold on.
Then the words Xaal didn’t want to hear sounded.
“Guys Im down”. It was Zent.
The group lulled. All hope lost. Xaal was again running on fumes, health and mana all but gone. The evil avatars surrounding him, battering his now frail and bleeding body.
Again closing his eyes, waiting for the killing blow he suddenly felt a new lease of life. It hit like a gnomish train, the force wracked his body. Then again, it hit, his health now almost at full…. It meant one thing and one thing only… Xaal opened his eyes to see Corley standing before him. Fighting off the crowd and healing at the same time.
Insanity ended and the three remaining members quickly assessed the situation. Corley had spent the last remenants of his mana on rescuing Xaal. Xakita was at half health and no mana but thanks to Corley, Xaal was standing strong. But they had lost their tank and hardest hitter.
They'd made it this far.
Volazj almost paused to smile before he descended for the kill. Our guardian Paladin – Xak swung and attracted his attention. Could they? With the monster at almost half health, it would be a tall order. No mana, no main DPS and the prospect of another Insanity on the horizon bit into the groups heart.
So it began.
A mixture of healing on fumes, our brave Paladin self healing where possible and our dark priest trying to keep the damage rolling looked bleak. The creature's health started to wain. It was working!
Before the monster fell face first in the dust, he’d tried to cast a final Insanity – but it was in vein.
Twilight Rising had rescued another battle from the ashes. The group almost in tears of joy started the resurrecting of fallen friends and the night was won.
Or was it?
From the other end of the dark underground expanse, the group could hear Taldaram laughing.
Calling upon every ounce of being, the group walked calmly to their final test.
As she fell into darkness with the rest of her crowd she learned the lesson that many before her and I’m sure many after her will learn.
Count on the skill, not the gear.
