With the release of 2.2 (currently on the PTR's) voice comms will be included as part of the wow interface. The main improvement will be the ability to see who's talking and the auto levelling of game sounds.
Will you be making the switch from your trusty old TS / Vent system?
Will you be making the switch from your trusty old TS / Vent system?
I know our guild won't. There are so many thing why you would rather use TS/Vent for. VOIP will have chat channels and push-to-talk function aswell as highlighting the player talking.
I can already see where TS/Vent would shine over VOIP:
*What about when you disconnect? You can warn the raid on TS/Vent, but not on VOIP.
*Will VOIP affect your system perfomance? Will it slow down your connection or will it cause less Frames per second?
*Lag. If someone lags or have poor connection to the game, wouldn't mean that would be the same for TS/Vent. But for the VOIP it would.
*Pugging. A funny discussion i had with a few friends. When VOIP hits we will most likely hear kids screaming like there's no tomorrow in group pugs or even battlegrounds. I just hope it's possible to disable VOIP hehe.
The good thing about VOIP is it's easily accesible and quick management, where you have to alt-tab out of the game to get to TS/Vent.
I don't see why our guild would change to VOIP at all
