If you’re a fan of PvP then you’ll know that the Ruin Battlegroup (the one Steamwheedle Cartel is in) is the smallest in Europe.  With only 4 realms, two of which are ‘RP’ it’s deemed by many as one of the worst.

This hasn’t really bothered me before until I started reading on how many big guilds have left the realms within Ruin.

So… what’s the problem?

Well the problem is that it’s not just the PvP junkies that are leaving / have left.  There are a long list of groups and well known individuals that have used the paid migration in hopes of pastures new.

Xavius (another from Ruin) is now regarded by many as a dead realm and as a GM it’s my responsibility to ensure that we see issues like this coming and try to get around them.  In the early days, transferring from Earthern Ring to SWC was a big decision, but nothing would be bigger than asking members to foot £15 per character to make the leap again.

So… what to do?

Well I took it upon myself to research which realm had the lowest ping, the right balance and the most appropriate Battlegroup.  I targeted Dragonblight in the Bloodlust Battlegroup.  I loaded as much gold as I could onto Kazam and transferred him.

So… was it worth it?

In all honesty? No.  I’ve only done a few BG’s on there and I can put my hand on my heart and say that they don’t differ at all to those we currently see in Ruin.  The horde are strong and well organised, the Alliance seem to lack the basics of BG’s but yet thanks to a few individuals still manage the odd win.  Ok so it’s novel to see 30 AV’s listed at once, after all, this Battlegroup does have something like 18 realms in it, but the join queues were much longer than ours…. go figure

So... now what?

Well, after doing some more research on Ruin, it appears Blizz are planning some kind of merger with another group at some point which can only be a good thing.

All I can say is that once the 1 month transfer lock has passed, I’ll be moving Kaz straight back and will weather the storm.

Steamwheedle Cartel looks safe for now and things are looking promising for Ruin.

Didn't know you moved but me and brett coulda told ya alliance lack in Bg' even on our Laughing Skull, Vindication battle group.  I'd say its basically because a lot more people play PVP on horde side, and the alliance won't ever catch up ;(

Id say splitter but i think you've wasted 30 quid!  Sad Well thanks for testing the water, and its probably about who you do the bgs with rather than winning and losing (although when we do av we do seem to do better).

Yea i think i have to agree with redfox - aka - delindir

The age old truth remains also, virtually everyone who starts a new character rolls Alliance and then at some point into their education roll a Horde once they know the game a bit more.

This added to the 'n00bs want to be the good guys' theory and you've got a horde side packed with experienced players.

To be honest, the PvP wasn't the main reason for moving, it was more to do with the fear of this battlegroup/realm dying... something I don't think will happen now I've tasted it.

I'm thinking of putting BG's on the planner ever Saturday night, even if we only get 3 or 4 people in a pug, it can make a massive difference to not only the outcome, but the enjoyment factor as well.

That's the silly thing, EoS, AB and WSG let you enter with a full premade, its only 5 for AV, but we can time the joins Smiley

What about stinky queue - would that be a better choice if we get more than 5?

It's an idea, although we'll have to test both Stinky and a system of just co-ordinating team leaders to join at the same time.
