After last night's *cough* run i found this somewhere on the www and thought it was worth a string, as with the growing guild there will be more varied collections of groups and classes.

So  - a how to opinion on the Gauntlet - what do you think ? It`s easy for moi on account of the "Shifty just kill stuff" command so i know the other members of the raid have more difficult jobs.
So - Is this BS or does it have merit ?
Basically ignore the warriors at all times and let them beat on the tanks, kill the first shaman, move up, kill the secodn shaman, move up, kill the third shaman.  stay at the top of the stairs.  Kill all warriors you have aggroed.  Pull last group, kill shaman, then pull the rogue on the stairs, kill the warrior, then the rogue.  Done.

It's much easier with a pally tank, Also, don't buy into the strat of *the offtank needs to be at the back of the group to pick up adds* the adds wont hit for much, also the hunters can lay traps down whereever they are and it will take care of a few.

If you get aggro from any add and you cant take it, run up to the tanks.  They will be Tclapping, consecrating etc.  So it should take them off of you.

I have used the same technique everytime on that gauntlet; ideally have a pally tank at the front to soak up the birdies, batter a pair down and move on to the next as fast as possible with 1 tank at the back to catch the chasers.

While the pally tank may be ideal I have done it with other tanks successfully too.

I am happy to try out other techniques though usually if the old one is not working or you are so confident with the fight that you want to play around a little.

No idea what happened last night - was there a problem?

Every night I've seen the gauntlet we've nailed it.

I think every now and then we're going to hit a bad night, I think one of the issues Shing had on Wed was that with one Priest and two Pally healers, one of which is still a bit lacking in gear and experience - it was always going to be a tall order.

In addition, I know there was a lot of concern for the overall class mix on the night.

We've had such great early success in ZA that I think evenings like this are important as they stop us from getting complacent.

The main problems we had that time was

- ppl spreading out too much
- not enough slow/frostnova (this means aoers more or less get 1hitted since they cant kite birds)
- melee/single dpsers started dpsing birds instead of help out on the elite mobs in front
- w8ing too long before pulling the next group (normaly I pull the next group when the 2nd elite is at 50-75% went better after a few tries however)

Thats basically it, sorry if this seems more like whining but this is what I saw, anyhow until next time, keep in mind, killing main elites=less birds=less aoe needed meaning less dead clothies.
main problem was that aoers did not get out any dmg, suspecting this was becuse of them being nuked down after 1-2aoe spells.

I'd initially thought the first wipe was down to Rim not having taken the role of leading the gauntlet charge before, he's always soaked up the adds at the back, I was going to say 'the adds that come from behind' but that'd be too easy for Corly & Harps :-)

I found it quite challenging to keep aggro as tabbing when your surrounded by a flock of birdies takes too long, TClap, Shout & Cleave on their own weren't generating enough aggro.  So we tried Rim in his normal position on the gauntlet and we seemed to still have the same problem i.e too many birds.

At one point I'd soaked up six bad boys trying to get to the group at the top, but got pwnd as I think my main heal had been taken out by the birds & co.

I want some payback!!!

I wasn't on the run with you guys on Wedsnesday, so not sure as to what went wrong or what to suggest.

On tonights run, I don't propose trying anything different from what I've done before. If we run into problems, then we'll think of alternatives then.

as stated indeed, we had an off night with numerous things not working for us..
no reason to panic and try different tactics tho a pallie tank on the birds is a nice add-on indeed

have fun  tonight

peace out

Looking forward to tonight yay

Just wanted to say after reading all the posts tonight that in no way was i criticising anyone or casting aspersions on any tactic (nb -can Mages cast apersions ?)

I am still learning the various tactics as i`ve only ever been to ZA with you guys, and i was curious and found the original info in my first post.

Just wanted to make sure of that because the written word as we know can be misinterpreted

For my own part i thought it was Skull cross drink JD birds wipe with squirrel till mt moves to new skull wipe with squirrel DRINK JD - i`ll ask tonight to ensure mele order is correct.

Never worry Shifty - tis always good to ask.

If you are short on AoE then it may even be worth you as a feral dropping Hurricane on the birdies when you get chance.
