WoW Insider has announced that they have had "official word" that Blizzard are working on implementing the Gear Matching system for PvP Battlegrounds originally discussed prior to the Burning Crusade.
The system is designed to group players up as they queue to enter PvP battlegrounds depending on the level of their gear (weapons, armour, etc) and enchants they have on them.
Designed to prevent "twinks" (characters levelled up the maximum level of a battleground bracket and equipped with the best gear available at that level... typically done at level 19), and to even out high-end battlegrounds where you have some players who have just reached the milestone currently trying to PvP against those who have gathered high-end/epic instance or PvP reward gear.
I've never been a huge fan of the PvP in WoW - although I think this change will go a long way to address one of the main problems currently present.
Blizzard have said the new system will be implemented into the next major patch (not
2.07).
