A Dark Storm Approaches

« on: September 26, 2007, 11:25:28 PM »

This is an example of how to form an RP story/event with someone else.  I met Wu during this post during a guild application before deciding to get the LanCraft guilds going, I'm sure you'll enjoy it and perhaps it will give you some insight how to make an interactive RP story for yourself on here Smiley

As Daal sat by the fire in the Guilded Rose thoughtfully sipping his brew, he started to remember his dislike for civilisation. As was common with a number of hunters, Daal felt no more at home than when surrounded by nature. The journey to Stormwind had been a long one. The weather, uncharacteristically cold for this time of year.

His initial meeting with the Academy principal appeared to go well, although Daal had always struggled to read the Humans. Such an unpredictable race.

He had booked himself in with Allison for a few nights who had refused to take payment yet again. “Funny how reputations are only as good as your last quest” the weary Elf thought to himself. Daal took another sip.

Over the next few days, whilst waiting to hear from the Academy regarding his application, Daal planned to catch up with a few old friends that now rarely left the confines of Stormwind. Steele was back from SI7 duties and they had a lot to catch up about.

Daal had heard rumours that his brother Xaal had been sighted passing through Stormwind, no doubt on his way back to Shattrah. Daal had struggled to understand why the Priest had chosen to ally with the Blood Elves there but over the years had learned to accept his little brother’s choices. He was at least still with Xakita the last time they met, at least she helped to curb his thirst for power, at least for now.

As Twilight set through the Inn windows, the door to the Inn opened slowly and a cloaked figure stepped into the hallway.

((So who wants to be the cloaked figure?) )

Quote from: Wuwu
((you rolled dice and got me!))

Almond eyes peered beneath pearlescent hood as the young female entered the Inn. Fingers of left hand clutched a thick ledger whilst right hand twirled a strange ornament that looked almost akin to fool's gold.

Approaching the barmaid, Wu inhaled deep and looked resolute as she helped yet another young soul this eve. Sure it had cost thirty gold, but, love had no price!

"I have found it! The answer to your prayers sweet friend! Now I purchased this from a very reputable troll in Shatraath, and it is said to find your heart's desire and even make them irresistible to your charms!"

Needless to say the young maid with mouth agape cradled said knecklace as if it were a newborn babe. Nodding rapidly as she fastened it upon her own neck, Wu smiled and waved away any payment. Love was the ultimate reward afterall.

"Nothing at all! Just remember whom to ask for a wedding dress!"

Exaling softly through her nose Wu placed her ledger in her travelling bag . Next she did lift herself up into the nearest seat available and swung her legs over the edge whilst pursing lips as almond eyes roamed the expanse of the inn.

A male at the fireplace caught her eye. Deep in his own thoughts undoubtedly. Eyes turned milky for a time as she beheld his souldance. Not entirely dark, not entirely light, just the right balance. Eyes regained their normal sheen and Wu regarded him with a tilt of the head. This time of night...Alone...Her lips parted.

"Oh but he be lonely and unloved!Or..maybe ..a broken heart?Or..maybe he loves one he cannot have!"

She thought in earnest. Wiping a tear with a shred of shadowweave cloth she sighed and tapped her fingers together as if waiting for a right moment. Looking to the fireplace she bit her lip and with a flick of her wrist and a murmur of choice words, the flames roared to greater life as a bolt of flame was released. With this she half grinned , half blushed.

"You looked cold!"

Daal had made it his business not to get involved in other peoples business a long time ago. He watched for a second as the petite figure almost skipped across the main room of the Inn towards the barmaid and somehow, for once, Daal felt the weight of his heart start to lift.

The feeling didn’t last long and his thoughts drifted off to his brother once more as the figure hopped onto a chair at the bar.

Solomon, Daal’s fine white lion yawned and then put his chin back down on the stone floor. Daal gently patted the beast who was one of the few creatures that Allison allowed inside the Inn. Solomon, still very young had been with Daal since that hateful day when they fought side by side in Winterspring. The Lion had travelled Outlands from edge to edge and had almost perished to the hands of the Horde on more than one occasion yet there he was, looking untouched by anguish. The mutual respect the beast and the master had for each other was very uncommon each knowing that every night may be their last together.

As the flames in the fireplace exploded the cat bolted upright, ready to fight the oncoming undead mage. Daal very quickly assessing the threat put his uncovered hand on the Lions chest. “Easy young one…” he said in Elvish.

Daal looked over to the bar where the helpful figure sat beaming from under her hood.

Wu pressed her fingers to her rose petalled lips as the elven male spoke. Was he speaking to her or the poor kitty who jumped? She had not meant to do that. Departing her mouth, fingers sought the enchanted fabric of her hood and grasped it, lowering it to her shoulders. What was revealed were two ever so clean pink bunches of hair.

"I sorry sir! I don't speak your lovely tongue. That is your language. Not that it isn't a nice language. I 'd like to learn it! Not meaning that I think any one has the right to learn it but, I'd like to. But not to say it is an easy language for a Gnome t olearn! But..a pretty one. Oh! And that is if you were addressing me and not your kitty. I mean lion! Erm companion?"

At that moment Wu jumped with suprise as Allison placed a cup of sweet nectar in front of Wu. Her small nostrils twitched as it smelt so good and grasping the cup with both hands she drunk greedily, her head nodding to Allison in gratitude as almond eyes shone happily.

Daal cast an amused glance towards Allison who winked subtly back at the Elf. “Unpredictable” Daal thought to himself.

He then smiled at the gnome who was clearly in a bit of a muddle. Daal stood up from his place at the fire, collected his tankard and after whispering something to Sol, walked over to the bar. Although Daal generally preferred his own company to that of others, there was something intriguing about this Gnome.

Sol simply laid back down folding his front legs under his chin and closed his eyes, the flickering firelight dancing over his sleek white shape.

“Greetings little one” Daal said in common, as he approached the Gnome who was trying with all the intent of the world to squeeze the last drop of drink out of her mug.

“I am Daal Ravenglade, ranger of the West, and my friend over there is Solomon…. Who might you be?” Daal said warmly.

Almond eyes flowed from contents of cup, which had now diminished, to the handsome features of the male elf. The male elf who was approaching her table. The male Elf with the awfully long legs and shinies on his person that caught her eye.

Rose petaled lips formed an 'o' shape as the cup made a sucking sound as it was taken from her mouth and set on the table. Composing herself, Wu grinned and swung her legs once more. Better still, he could speak common. So nicely too, a gentle voice yet thick with masculinity.

"Ooh that sounds good, shall have to tell the girls about him! I wonder if Dusieb would suit. They could sleep together, literally. That druid was always in the emerald dream and yet even as a tree she has great hugs. That has to count for something!" She thought to herself.

Blinking back thoughts Wu bowed her head and thought she rather liked his name.

"Greetings sir Daal Ravenglade, Ranger of the best."

At this she pursed her lips, that was right ...Wasn't it? Yeah, sounded right.

" I am Wuwu Wisely, Guardian of Starlight! Please call me Wu if it pleases you."

Almond eyes looked to the best ranger and then to the chair and she did motion with nodding and hand gestures for him to take a seat. After such enthusiastic gesturing on her part, fingers fumbled deep within her travelling pack and produced two ripe peaches. Her favourite Elven export.

Daal bowed forwards to greet Wu, fighting hard to keep a smile from his lips due to the Gnomes words. He had always felt a connection with the Gnomes, Steele, his right hand man had proven himself quite the companion during their journeys. His wit only matched by his blades.

For the first time since being in the Inn that evening, Daal noticed a figure sat in the window, shrouded in darkness. As Daal moved to the bar and cast a glance in the direction of the shady character, he’d felt uneasy about it’s reaction of sitting further back in the shadows. Something wasn’t right.

Daal sat down beside Wu and ordered a water. “Nice to meet you Wu, can I get you another drink?” Daal said extending a hand of friendship.

Almond eyes positively glowed at Daal's approach and further enchanted speech. What a blessing this night was becoming. She did not notice any other person whom may have been within the tavern save for the three of them, counting Allison. Not that Wu would normally miss such things, but she was a curious Gnome and once her attention was caught so raptly it would take fire and a possible Boom from one of Omni's bombs to make her blink.

"Oh! Well only to keep you ocmpany, yes, some sweet nectar would be most welcome thankyou sir Daal."

Nimble fingers then rolled a peach out toward him as she picked the other up and chewed thoughtfully. Well now. A single elf in Stormwind. A single male elf. So much work, so few singles...that matched. She did wonder if this one liked females, males or both. But how does one approach such a subject? With tact! Upmost diplomacy! Yes Wu was an expert in such fields.

"So Daal...Do you prefer drinking from the font or eating berries from the bush?"

Almond eyes regarding him quite seriously as love was a very serious matter.

Daal picked up the peach and whilst inspecting it said “I prefer my riddles to lead to loot…. but when I do eventually decide to settle down and give myself to another… it shall be from the font. I’m afraid that I do not have the time or the inclination to pursue such matters for now little one”

He nodded to the barkeep and ordered Wu a Nectar.

Daal smiled and as he thought back, wondering how or why he would even answer such a personal question his concerns slipped away into the night air as he bit into the peach.

The figure in the corner was definitely paying a little too much attention to the conversation. The Tavern was starting to fill and yet the figure’s attention was fixed solely on Wu.

Sensing danger, Daal made a low whispering noise and immediately Sol vanished from sight. Daal decided not to alert Wu just yet.

Almond eyes widened as she heard Daal's reply. Almost choking on mouthfuls of peach she concentrated on swallowing and then gasped for air.

"Oh!Oooh yes ofcourse Daal sir. I understand and I am honoured you answered my very personal question. Which I asked due to my quest in life which is to unite every lonely soul with their life mate!"

Smiling gratefully as her nectar arrived she spoke a word of thanks softly and then washed down the peach, sticky fingers clinging to the goblet.

"So, he likes males. Well that was nice. More difficult to find a partner for but not impossible! Typically most cute ones are...What was the term? Joy? Yes he as a joyelf, awww my first joyelf! I wonder if there is anyone for him in here? Maybe that's why he is here? Oh wow tis a joy joy tavern and I never knew!" She thought to herself. Well she was not called Wu Wisely for nothing.

"Hmm, that one with the cloak looks very interested in us! Oh my, maybe they think I am trying to chat him up? No wonder they look meanie!" She thought again.

Almond eyes turned milky as Wu absorbed shadow sight, an inheritant ability since her early apprentice days. Yes they truly were quite angry, the colours of their soul depicted a powerful one. Fingers itched yet this one was not necessarily an enemy. All was fair in love and war. Almond eyes regained their hazel hue and Wu whispered to her newfound friend.

"Think that hooded person is jealous that I have such a goodlooking friend to talk to Daal sir. Should we tell them you are single but not looking in case they missed it?"

Wu smiled sheepishly as she placed the half full goblet down and wiped her sticky hands on a piece of netherweave cloth.
