As a Holy Priest PVP is pretty much off limits to me. I find it frustrating and end up getting battered by my wife for shouting to much at the computer. So when they announced a short sharp fix for PVP in the Arena's I found my self a team, BM Hunter (Guildy) and an Affliction Lock (Wife) and we started our way through into the game off who can fall over the fastest. Our first few matches were painful, Illidan had the right idea as we were surly Not Prepared! Luckily we joined at the end of season 2 and within a couple of weeks Gladiator gear was available for us. These welfare epic's are still in use buy our team in some shape or form as we have not managed to hit the +1800 to get the shoulders! We all had a online meeting and all worked out that spending more points on the season 3 gear was better than spending less points on season 2 (plus it looks way kewl hehe). So were supposedly coming to the end of season 3 and with season 4 maybe having new loot to match the loot from the Sunwell Plateau, and the gladiator gear being phased out I am really happy that I put time and effort into this! Two of the three of us have moved guild but we all get together for our 2v2 team to batter noobs and get pwned by better noobs. I moved guilds to a more hard core Raiding guild who are progressing nicely into SSC, I know this maybe slow for some but were the 5-6 highest on our server, which to be honest is a pretty laid back. So my +healing gear is getting some nice T4 additions. But my PVE/PVP gear is lacking and is only added to every 4-5 weeks via the Arenas. Which means slow progress, but with our gear getting better we and the more matches we play the more we win. I guess what I am trying to say is that for Dual classes like my self where healing is my bread and butter, Arena's help to bring the fun and the much needed gear back into my alter ego, making me remember the Shadowy days of my past.
With the first bit of season 4 gear showing up in data mining sessions of the 2.4 patch, there's been some speculation that the season itself might be approaching. However, many people have argued that even if they do implement the gear, season 3 hasn't been around near long enough for it to be time for season 4. Drysc would seem to beg to differ. In a thread on the general forums asking about the start of season 4, Drysc chimed in to say that seasons will tend to match PvE progression, with upgraded PvP sets to match. He said that with the Sunwell Plateau coming out, more PvP gear and a new season were an inevitability. He also mentioned that there's no set length to arena seasons, and that there's also the possibility of a new season with no new gear.
The idea of new gear for a new tier would make some sense and be in line with previous season debuts. After all, Season 3 coincided very closely with the release of the Black Temple, although there were a few extra weeks between the two, apparently mostly to give people advance warning to finish the race to Gladiator and try to assure the acquisition of a Netherdrake mount.
Of course, he didn't say officially or exactly what was going on, but the implication seems to be that with a new tier of progression in the form of the Sunwell Plateau, we should expect a new PvP season as well. It's not a given, but if you're a gambling type... you might consider saving some of those arena points for the patch. (0) Comments |
